Areas of Law
Selecting an attorney is an important decision that may dramatically affect the outcome of your case. You should consider whether the attorney has the experience and resources to handle your case. I will candidly advise you if I am qualified to take your case. Here are some brief explanations of the areas of law that I generally cover:
Personal injury. If you were injured in an automobile, on someone else's property, or through the fault of another person, you may have a personal injury claim. This may result from an auto accident, dog bite, motorcycle accident, slip and fall, or many other types of accidents and/or negligence. You may be injured both physically and financially. My job is to help you obtain the medical services and financial remuneration that will compensate you for your loss.
Workers' compensation. If you were injured on the job, you are entitled to certain benefits under Florida Workers' Compensation law. The Workers' Compensation system can be confusing and burdensome to the injured worker. Make sure you know your rights before signing anything for your employer or insurance adjustor, or contact me and I would be happy to guide you through the process.
Probate. Probate is the legal process that transfers property from the estate of someone who has died to his or her beneficiaries. If you are the beneficiary to an estate, or a named personal representative in a last will and testament, I can help you establish the probate estate and administer the estate as quickly as possible.
Bankruptcy. Filing bankruptcy allows you to obtain a fresh start by wiping out most if not all of your debt while retaining most of your property. I handle Chapter 7 personal bankruptcy cases on behalf of debtors and my consultations to see if you qualify are free.
Insurance law. You may have questions about whether you are entitled to benefits from various types of insurance policies. I can help you deal with insurance adjustors and obtain the best possible recover based on the circumstances of your case. In most cases, my fee for representing you will be paid by the insurance company.
Elder law. This area of law focuses on the special needs of the elderly and their families. I may be helpful to you for matters such as:
Durable Powers of Attorney
Guardianships
Healthcare surrogate designations
Living Wills or Advance Directives
Medicare
Planning for long term care and Medicaid
Preventing and correcting the abuse, exploitation, or neglect of an elderly person
Special needs trusts for disabled individuals
Trusts - Living, Revocable, Inter-vivos
Wills
